My running anniversary

1st year is always special. Even you completed a year after your birth as human creature or celebrated a year at job. Your business take leaps in first year or you just got married a year ago. We usually cherish the memories of first year, celebrate the event and desire to experience more in coming years.
I have also completed a year full of joy after I started running – my running anniversary.

As said, I maybe completely a different character if I had not taken running into my lifestyle. This is something that charges me mentally & keeps me physically fit. I don’t remember how I started this stint (may be some random Facebook post), but I remember how it had changed me. I learned the power of consistency, being disciplined, going forward in difficult times and a lot.
12th Feb, 2017 was the day I ran my first 10k event and after that things only got better with running long distances.
During my first year, I successfully completed 6 half-marathons and two 10k events. I ran 100 days in ‘100 days of running’ challenge & clocked 817.77 Kms.

Events I covered:
1. Punjab half-marathon (10k)

2. Big Chandigarh marathon (21.1k)

9. 100 days of Running – as cherry on the cake

As a Pacer:
On my last day of year after I started running i.e. 11 Feb 2018, I ran my 6th half-marathon (3rd Punjab half marathon) and excitedly paced 2:00 hr bus for 21.1 km
This was one of the best time as a new challenge, I got to see other side of running too. I was little anxious before the event if I’ll be able to have control on my pace keeping care of other fellow runners who believed in me & getting on my bus. I started little fast than average but got to optimal pace after 4-5 kms.

After I crossed the finish line, I was good to see many PBs in single event (Every single ‘Thank you’ from runner who done his first sub 2:00 with me was new PB for me as well).

What’s next ?
I am ready to take more challenges in 2018 with running in more events, increasing distance & improving timings.
I have already enrolled in 333DaysOfRunning challenge started on Jan 11, 2018 which will end on Dec 09,2018 and registered for my first Full marathon at NDM.

Let’s see how this year comes out to be 🙂

Happy Running !!
