Am i upto my resolutions

2016 is completing its time and we are going to start a fresh new year 2017 soon. Like most of the humans on planet make their resolutions at the start of every year, i myself took a step and make a bullet list of things in January. Now, 2016 time frame is at it’s ending moments so i thought of analyzing them.
It’s time to analyze & elaborate the achievements, finding the patterns, giving reasoning to our-self and knowing our-self truly.
This post is not intended to share as part of my writing, but writing my achievements & failures in public give me a little boost as i know someday someone may read this & question.

Am i upto my resolutions

Chilling December, sitting in the blanket, having coffee, Wi-fi running and writing this post is a wonderful combination.
Memorizing the phrase “Dreams are the resolutions which didn’t break in February”, let’s see how many resolutions completed, how many got break in February or mid-way and how many got it’s super alternatives.

1. Learn new topic every 2 months:

At start of year, my first resolution was to learn new topic every 2 months like Digital marketing, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and so.. and initial months contributing to re-designing StartupYar and it’s SEO part.
Actual:
I doesn’t follow on this rule, neither i keep learning topic every 2 months nor StartupYar was redesigned. Although, there was good amount of work done on SEO part of StartupYar but i have not kept my resolution to learn new topic every 2 months.
This is not because i procrastinate on this or i forgot to do this. This is because i changed my way of doing work & learning process. If you keep on learning the things that doesn’t align to your goals or improve the subjects which will help you in attaining your goals, i choose to prefer latter. Instead of different topics, i choose to make my subjects stronger.

2. Travel:

Traveling opens up your mind, helps you relax and one of the best thing to do. As said, i didn’t travel this year to any wonderful place due to some reasons (Yes, reasons). Although, i travel to nearby places that i have not visited before but that doesn’t qualify me to pass this point.
Again missed this resolution 🙁

3. Sports:

As per my schedule, i continued to play badminton in weekdays. About ‘Soccer’, my love, played it some days, left for some, again played for some days, left for some time, this up-down graph was on the way. This year weekend evenings was quite busy due to household work and that was expected, so i have to miss this sometimes.
Although, soccer was not in continuation but starting a regular jog compensate for this which was not planned 😀 . I also planned to continue swimming in summers, and went every pool in the town to do. But we didn’t found a seat anywhere. School holidays kept the pool full leading us to leave this stuff too. Even i tried to play a different sport – Lawn Tennis, but that too doesn’t lead to any success.

4. New product launch:

Oh Yeah, i have completed this task (and failed too). I started as a hosting provider “Beginner Host”. Learned lot of things in process and then shut it down.
Why shut down ? Coming to some technical s, server i have taken as re-seller was good and of high speed but sometimes it go into like sleep mode, site was not even opening and my clients those also used to be my friends faced this problem. Their work was getting impacted. Although they like the server and awesome pricing too but downtime at their peak time frustrates. So, after analyzing every aspect of it, i planned to shut it down. I learned in the process and shared it in a blog post of Shout Ninja (my blog where i share some of my learning). You can read about why i prefer to choose affiliate over reselling .
Now, i am not running this, so if anyone planning to start in a hosting domain, you can use this free parked domain BeginnerHost.com. Get discounted domain at Godaddy

5. 38Candies:

Lovely name, isn’t it.
38Candies started with 2 childhood friends me & Vari. Done lot of things in this. In 2016, i planned to get some projects & complete it for clients. We have done few. But afterwards, i figured out that services is not my cup of tea. I want to create some product that would solve some ground problems, that fills the gap in the market and not to create HTML or WordPress sites.
So, this doesn’t took up.

Hmm.. reading above list looks like 2016 was just a casual year like all years and nothing was accomplished. But this is not true so far. I may not be kept on my mentioned resolutions but have tried various different things, most of which were unplanned and that’s awesome.
When you plan a journey from any source to destination, you get lot of hurdles and sometimes beautiful experiences that give birth to lot of experiments.
Let’s see what new i have done in beautiful year 2016:

1. Beginner Host

As mentioned above, i started as a hosting provider and experienced behind the scenes of hosting solutions company. For consumer, it’s easy to apply coupons, buy hosting and call them for any query / problem we are facing. But behind the scenes, especially for a starting up guys is not so easy. No doubt, hosting providers earns plenty of money, sometimes 90% of the money out of your paying but technical expertise of team and maintaining the server up-time & up-to-date software patches is not everyone’s cup of tea.
I also feel that it’s not my job, so i shut that down. But yes, it was a new thing for me, new experiment & Ofcourse new experience.

2. Shout Ninja

Lot of times, i have seen hard core technical guys sometimes not knowing of few basics things and updates in industry. So, i started a blog named Shout Ninja which covers the basics details of any topic and detailed instructions as how-to articles. Some of the articles like  beginners SEO guide, About Big Data, blog monetization techniques, etc. can be found for use.

3. StartupYar media

Although very small amount of work was done on StartupYar in 2016, but it got covered in some media. One of the interesting fact i observed is we published BetaPage on StartupYar exactly 1 year after they published us and we were not known about this time gap before posting 😀

4. Rap ..

Yes, you read it right. Not everything has to be technical for a year to enjoy. Some fun must to be included to enjoy it to the fullest.
I sing 2 rap songs this year:

a) ‘Kudi Nal Pyar’ – Youtube link

b) ‘Pehchaan’ – Youtube link

5. Reading books

I don’t remember how i got a taste to read books, but after mid 2016 i get fond of reading books on motivation, goal settings, big thinking, finance and so much more. Books i read in 2016 include:

a) Magic of thinking Big (Recommended read)

b) Rework

c) Rich Dad Poor Dad (Recommended read)

d) Cashflow Quadrant

e) Eat that Frog

f) Goals

6. Stock market

As name implies, it’s so impressive to enter into the market and learn the ins and out of it. Amount of knowledge you get is so large to digest.
My motive to enter in this domain is not to get big returns but hard core learning that i nowhere else can learn.

These are just few things i have started, there are lot more on the list and i am waiting for them to get executed first before mentioning here. I may fail in some but i believe in giving everything a shot at least once.
And plans for 2017 are much bigger than 2016. I will gonna taste different experiences soon.
I’ll try to share a post on everything i start in 2017.

Reader: Maybe you are the first person reading this blog post, and if you have reached till end. WoW. Someone has read completely 😀

Have a great new year 2017 🙂
