Start a ride and go on a way that looks exciting

Why should I read your boring story?
Please don’t. It’s just for my reference.
Still, If you think it may help you pass your 5 minutes or see how different people think & spend their time, you can have a read.

2017 was a year of change for me that completed with lots of learning & excitement. By far I remember, this year was most productive.
Started many new things, shutted down more, learned a lot in different areas, hustled hard and enjoyed the ride to its extent. Out of long list of areas & things I have done, few of them include:

> Running
If I had not taken running into my lifestyle, I maybe completely a different character.
It may be just a sport for someone, but for me, it is lifeline now. This is something that charges me mentally and keeps me physically fit.
I still don’t remember how I started this stunt, but I remember how it changed me. 12th Feb was the day I ran my first 10k event and after that things only got better with running long distances.
Within time span of less than a year, I have successfully completed 5 half marathons (21Km) officially & one 10k event. I ran 100 days in ‘100 days of running’ challenge and lot more which I will share soon in next post “1 year of Running”

> Sports
Apart from running, soccer also contributed little. I played badminton tournament in Panchkula and won 2 matches there (and 3rd one taken up by another champ). First time, I entered into the adventurous sports Paragliding & river rafting (this was the most funny & exciting stuff).

> Books
I completed reading the ‘Goals’ by Brian Tracy which I continued from 2016 and many more books like ‘The 4 hour workweek’, Outliers, Born to run, and many more. Currently, I am reading ‘Project management for dummies’ to learn the basics about management. Reading was less this year but knowledge gained was hell lot.

> Events
I have attended many events this year including the most famous ‘TEDx Chandigarh’, CANNABLE from Chandigarh Angel Investors, few wordpress meetups and so..

> Travel
This year I traveled to Manali, Kullu, Kasol, Dehradun and thanks to running which forced me to travel at many new places including Delhi, Nangal, & Ludhiana 😀

> Others
Apart from these, I also done lot of stuff like giving guest lecture at ABC institute, new rap released PRAISE , performance at Basware Got Talent in Tagore theater, managing an event, and many more. I started learning the block-chain evolution which is changing the way we live, transact, communicate, do stuff and anything we do in daily dues.

These are some of few things I did in 2017 but matter is what I learned in this journey of 365 days. This makes up the ground for next era. To conclude, I learned 3 big things past year which I implemented and shows results:

1. Removing distractions
When you are stuck in many tasks, you don’t make justified progress, instead get puzzled in chores that may not be important and it’s never ending. The day you complete a task, new ones lined up already. So, Instead of increasing the number of different things I can do, I focused on removing the things I was already doing. I started this with listing down all the stuff I am involved in, categorizing which are really important and which are just for doing something extra. As a result, I shut down 38Candies & StartupYar continued as separate platform now. ShoutNinja – blog for technical knowledge was closed and all it’s posts moved to my personal blog under different category. I closed my planned breakfast delivery startup GoNashta(at idea stage only) even lot of work was already done on same. Started & closed BrdideWedsGroom – digital solution service for soon to get married couple and lot of other things to focus my energy on important stuff only. It really helped me a lot in clarifying the picture of my thoughts.

2. Start a ride and go on a way that looks exciting
It’s good to plan but not every time necessary to follow that. Consider going on a vacation tour, if you find the weather is not good, landslide may happen, what you will do – stick to your plan or come back ? Obviously, you will come back or choose a different destination for your vacations. This was all I did. When I started anything, and found it is no more useful, or more insights at that time shows bad signs to continue that project, it’s always better to stop doing that and focus on other important stuff. This is not always for situations that are not good. Even if I am doing something and it’s progressing well, but I found some other thing more exciting or opportunistic, I prefer to pause/stop my current work based on situations and start with the other part which sounds more better now. Some may consider this as losing focus or so but my intuition during those times gave me good fruits.

3. Running
I have already covered up this above and there is lot to write on this.. again waiting for completion of 1 year before I write more about this.

Have a wonderful and exciting 2018!!
